Light The Night Walk
Some of you may or may not know this about me, but I am cancer survivor. It was a very tough time in my life, but I learned so much from it and I grew so much respect for those who have it or who are going through treatment. I have a very positive outlook on the whole experience and it has made me more involved on organizations that help others through what I know from first hand.
From their website:
"Light The Night Walk is a fundraising campaign of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) which brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the diseases, and shine a light on the importance of finding cures and providing access to treatments for blood cancer patients."
I was honored to receive one of the highest awards with their organization, I have been able to raise through my group of friends and family close to 50k dollars over the course of a few years. It wasn't easy and it was a lot of work but it was a cause that is very close to my heart. Even if I was only able to make a difference in one person's life, this was an effort that was completely worth it and if I could, I would do it all over again.
The ceremony was beautiful and there many other honorees, it took place at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens on Wednesday December 10th, 2014.
