Holiday Guide
Happy Holidays!
This time of year can get hectic to say the least, so why not make rom for a little fun and giving? Here is what's happening with my favorite charities, and fun, holiday events in Richmond. 'Tis the season for giving what you can and spending time with the family that loves to stay too long at your house!

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: Harnessing the Power of Women Article
“Women have the power and when we join together, we can make all the difference.”
With those words, Stephanie McMahon, Chief Brand Officer at WWE, captured the theme of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) “Women Curing Cancer” initiative, which brings together philanthropic women to move collectively the needle in cancer cures and access to treatments.
On Wednesday, Stephanie joined LLS’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Gwen Nichols, and LLS volunteer Julie Guillot, who lost her 9-year-old son to acute myeloid leukemia, in a powerful and personal panel discussion about their commitment to fighting pediatric cancer. They were joined by about 50 philanthropic women at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C., to listen to the panel and network over a common goal to drive more research and help for patients with cancer.

Maymont Mansion Holiday Tour: Have you ever been curious about the inside of the Dooley mansion?
Celebrate the season at Maymont! James and Sallie Dooley's decorated home brings the wonders of Christmas past to life and is sure to put everyone in the holiday spirit. Glittering trimmings on the 12-foot Christmas tree, the dining room set for a feast, evergreen decorations and poinsettias, sentimental Christmas cards and beautifully wrapped gifts remind us that some of our most beloved traditions began in the Victorian era. Behind the scenes, the butler, cook and other domestic staff make preparations for the Dooleys’ first Christmas celebration in their new home. Guided tours of the upstairs available every half-hour; last tour begins at 4:30pm. Tour capacities are limited. $8 per adult/$6 per child. Free for Maymont members. Switch Bar: New Game of Thrones theme!
"Winter is Coming" - a "Game of Thrones" pop-up bar - is here. In Richmond - for a limited time. That's right, there's now a bar in town with a GOT theme, complete with "murals and 3D elements throughout the space mimic several key regions, focusing heavily on the North, including Winterfell and Stark’s Castle," according to a news release.
The pop-up bar is the latest concept at Switch Pop-Up Bar, the new place that opened in June at 13 W. Broad St. in downtown Richmond. The concepts, as previously announced, change regularly - and with the new concept comes all-new decor and cocktails. Switch Pop-Up Bar launched with an "Alice in Wonderland" theme upstairs and its basement bar with a 1990s theme. The basement took on a Halloween theme in September and that's still going strong, but upstairs, it's all winter with the "Game of Thrones" theme, which launched November 9.
